Helping Children Build Confidence Through Communication

At VK Speech Pathology, we provide personalised, evidence-based speech therapy for children across Australia through convenient online and telehealth sessions. We support children of all ages to develop clear speech, strong language skills, confidence in communication, and meaningful participation at home, school, and in everyday life.

Our family-centred approach means parents and caregivers are actively involved throughout the therapy process, helping children make progress that extends beyond the therapy session. Early intervention and tailored support can make a significant difference in a child’s communication development.

What Speech Therapy Involves

Speech therapy helps children who are difficult to understand, mispronounce sounds, or struggle to get words out clearly. This can include delayed speech development, specific sound errors, or stuttering.

Every child is different, so therapy starts with understanding exactly where the difficulty lies. Some children need help with individual sounds, others need support building the muscle coordination for clearer speech, and some need strategies to manage stuttering with confidence.

Signs your child may benefit from speech therapy include being hard to understand by people outside the family, dropping or substituting sounds past the age this is expected, or repeating sounds and words when speaking.

What to Expect

Sessions are practical and play-based, so children stay engaged while working on real progress. We recommend a schedule based on your child's needs, typically weekly sessions of 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Appointments are available in person or via telehealth, with the same quality of care either way.

NDIS and Telehealth

As an NDIS registered provider, speech therapy sessions can be funded through your child's NDIS plan. Telehealth appointments mean your child can access consistent, high quality speech therapy no matter where you're located in Australia.

Conditions We Support

Speech Delay in Toddlers

Some children develop speech and language skills more slowly than expected. Signs may include limited vocabulary, difficulty combining words, or trouble being understood by others. Early assessment can identify whether support is needed.

Articulation Therapy for Kids

If your child struggles to pronounce certain sounds, articulation therapy helps improve speech clarity and confidence.

Expressive Language Delay

Children with expressive language difficulties may understand language well but find it challenging to communicate their thoughts, needs, and ideas.

Stuttering Therapy for Children

We provide supportive, evidence-based therapy to help children manage stuttering and develop confident communication skills.

Social Communication Support

We assist children who experience difficulties with conversations, turn-taking, friendships, understanding social cues, and pragmatic language.

Your child's assessment may include standardized tests and/or observational assessments that are tailored to their age and specific needs.

At our clinic, we provide a comprehensive written report of all assessments for your records. Typically, assessments take between one to three hours, and we may schedule multiple one-hour appointments to complete the assessment process thoroughly.

    Therapy

If your child requires therapy, we will recommend a schedule of appointments. Typically, we see most children on a weekly basis for either 30, 45, or 60 minute sessions.

For children who receive therapy at school or preschool, we have regular phone calls to update parents on their child's progress.

We also maintain ongoing communication with teachers and other healthcare professionals involved in your child's care.

Our therapy is customized to meet the individual needs of each child. We use evidence-based methods informed by experience and research. Our goal is to make therapy enjoyable for both you and your child, so that it seamlessly integrates into your daily routine.
